Belgian veterans at the Patton Museum exhibition
Starting in May, Belgian veterans will have a permanent place at the Patton Museum with a panel featuring photographs of the Belgian Fusiliers’ banners together with a ribbon the City of Pilsen gave its liberators in 1945. Visitors will also be able to view a map showing the advance of the Belgian 17th Fusilier Battalion, which served with the US First Army from March 5 till June 1, 1945. On July 13, 1945, Supreme Allied Commander General Dwight D. Eisenhower decorated the Brigade for its exceptional military service. The panel includes period and current photographs as well as military decorations and small objects that the Belgian veterans will present to the Patton Memorial Pilsen in a ceremony on Saturday, May 5, 2012.
