Memorial service for last American pilot KIA held in Újezd on April 30
A service was held in front of the Town Hall in Újezd this afternoon to commemorate the 67th anniversary since the end of World War II. Gathering in front of the memorial plaque dedicated to Lt Virgil Paul Kirkham, the families of US veterans Marion Kirkham and Erik O. Peterson were joined by Újezd town officials, members and friends of Indianhead Club Pilsen, KVH Tommy & Yankee, and the Third Army Club Pilsen. The commemoration service continued at the memorial to the fallen pilot in Zadní Hora. Mrs Sládková, who has tended to the memorial for many years now, was also an honored guest.
