The Proluka site in Křižíkovy sady park is also filled with the atmosphere of May 1945. As part of the “Pilsen 1945” project prepared by a number of Pilsen military history clubs, demonstrations of everyday military life, authentic weapons, gear, and uniforms await visitors here. A military infirmary, motor vehicle repair shop and period machinery are also on display. A fence with period posters and a newsstand offer insight into regular civilian life. More informations

Military enthusiasts also set up military camps in front of the General Patton Museum on Pobřežní Street. Visitors here could see Camp 1945 – US Army Checkpoint and a historical 92nd Airborne Division camp. Besides viewing historical military machinery, arms, and gear, visitors could learn about the camp’s everyday activities, receive instructions on how to pack a military parachute, learn how to provide first aid, and watch several documentaries.

Visitors also enjoyed the Liberation Festival behind the Plaza shopping mall. Here they could view historical military machinery, cars, motorcycles, gear, and arms, and catch a glimpse of life at a historical military camp.

The official program of this year’s Liberation Festival continued in front of the memorial plaques dedicated to the Belgian Brotherhood of the 17th Fusilier Battalion and U.S. 16th Armored Division at the steps to Pilsen City Hall. In addition to the war veterans, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium and the U.S. Ambassador were honored guests of the City of Pilsen.

As in past years, Pilsen’s Liberation Festival culminated with the Convoy of Liberty historical military vehicle parade. This year featured 120 vehicles, and there certainly was plenty to see!
